VKP Reverse Proxy

The intention behind the VKP proxy is to make it easier for municipalities which are changing EHR systems; from a system supported by the current VKP implementation to a system who is not supported. In short, the reverse proxy allows welfare technology vendors ("vendors") to continue using their existing HelseID clients and their existing VKP integrations, even if a municipality changes EHR system.

Journaling with reverse proxy

When a  sending journaling requests to a municipality using VKP reverse proxy, this is what happens - given that the payload is valid:

  1. Request is sent to VKP from the vendor as before.

  2. VKP forwards the request to the JFT service.

  3. The journaling request is stored in JFT.

  4. The municipality's EHR system reads the journaling request and creates the textual journal note.

Please note that the actual request payload (i.e. FHIR resources) might need to be adjusted according to the new EHR system's configuration.

When reading patient-related requests from a municipality using VKP reverse proxy, this is what happens:

  1. Request is sent to VKP from the vendor as before.

  2. VKP forwards the request directly to the municipality's EHR system.

  3. The EHR system handles the request on a best effort basis. In practice, the mapping/processing previously done in VKP is done by the new EHR system.

Reverse Proxy in the Test Environment

NHN can configure a reverse proxy integration to new EHR systems in VKP's Test environment. Please contact customer support if you want to register such a request.

At the time of writing, we have configured reverse proxy for Aidn, using synthetic organization number 312229544. In order to use this: integration:

  • You need a HelseID test client for API nhn:vkp, connected to organization number 312229544.

  • Once registered, please inform VKP team, so we can enable reverse proxy for the client.

  • That's it - now you can use this client to communicate with Aidn using the standard VKP endpoints

If you want to see the result of your journaling requests, you can use Aidn's demo environment:

  • Url: https://klinisk.demo.aidn.no

  • Select NHN VKP Test Tenant.

  • Log in with HelseID Test-IDP, using personal identifier: 17906996669

  • Ensure you are in Hjemmetjeneste and Sone 1 .

  • Your notes are registered on patient Gul Barnestol.
