What is HelseID?

HelseID is a common login solution and a key component for digitizing the healthcare sector in Norway. The service helps to ensure that health information can be shared safely and easily. You can use HelseID to

  • Log in a user in an application
  • Get access to an API that is secured with HelseID:
    • APIs that do not require user login
    • APIs that require a logged in user
  • Secure access to an API that you own

Access to HelseID

To gain access to HelseID's test environment, you must log in to HelseID Selvbetjening (self-service portal). Before you can use HelseID in production, your company must have been approved as a third-party supplier for NHN, and it must have signed the terms of use for HelseID.

Protocols, security profile, and network

Before you start developing code for use against HelseID, you must have knowledge of the protocols on which HelseID is based, as well as our security profile. You must also have knowledge of how to use the network in the setting of HelseID.
